I am having a similar problem. After installing the game, It ran first time setup etc. I was having the same problem I finaly got the game to work after reading a number of posts on the net and uninstalled Uplay I hit play and all was working perfectly sound!!

The game boots up as it should, plays the horrible intro song and shows the logos, then it flashes to desktop for a second before arriving on the start screen.
